VINTAGE 1970s MORRIS CLASSICAL GUITAR MADE IN JAPAN - Good Condition
The pictures inside the guitar show the build quality of this guitar and this is reflected in the gorgeous tones it produces from probably 40 year woods which today's Luthiers would die for and charge an arm and a leg just because of the raw material.
Thick solid spruce top with what looks to be laminated mahogany back and side. Solid mahogany neck and one side of the tuners have been replaced. They all work smoothly. The action at the 12th fret is a tad over 1/8th. There are has light scratches on the guitar which is remarkable for its age but if you are thinking about purchasing a used vintage guitar, you need to accept the fact they may have small cosmetic flaws solely associated with their age, but not related to any particular damage. Describing a guitar in excellent condition is not about being in 'mint' condition, but regarding its structural, and functional condition, sound and play-ability.
The Japanese laminates are renowned for being of particularly high grade. They perform no differently from solid woods, while they do not crack as easily and are much easier to work with allowing for a much lower price of instrument. These laminates are two solid wood plates glued together so I understand and far superior to today's cheap Chinese/Korean laminates. So a blessing for vintage enthusiasts on a limited budget.
